About me as a therapist

My approach to counseling is warm, reflective and collaborative. I aim to create a space where you feel safe to explore what’s difficult, make sense of your experiences, and move toward meaningful change. Together, we’ll find an approach that works for you.

In my practise I enjoy working with an integrative counseling approach that combines the perspectives of both mental and sexual well-being. It’s not uncommon for mental health symptoms like anxiety, depression, or stress to be related to problems in our sexual lives, and individuals who belong to either a sexual or gender minority can experience more anxiety and depression compared to individuals who don’t. Further, harmful myths, trends, norms and stereotypes can interfere with desire, pleasure, enjoyment and overall well-being. Whether your concern is related to sexual or mental health, or a combination of both, counseling can be a place to explore it respectfully, openly, and at your pace.

About my therapy sessions

Counseling with me is reflective and goal-oriented. We begin by understanding your current situation and clarifying what you want to work toward. I often incorporate tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, self compassion and mindfulness-based practices. We may use visualisation and between-session activities to support your growth.

I offer sessions both online and in-person, primarily online. You can attend counseling alone or together with a partner or partners. I work mainly in English and Swedish, and can also offer support in Finnish.

My professional background and knowledge

I am a Valvira registered Clinical Psychologist and I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Åbo Akademi University. Additionally, I have completed a one year training in Basic Sexology organised by Sexpo. I have been passionate about the combined perspective of mental and sexual well-being for many years. I, for example, explored the connection between sexual communication, jealousy, and relationship quality for my Master's thesis. I have experience in working with individuals and couples at a maternity clinic, where I provided short-term counseling.

Client group

I work with adults and older teenagers. I usually take the perspective of both mental and sexual well-being, but clients are also welcome to focus more on one of them. From the combined perspective, we might explore topics including:

How your mental and sexual health influence one another
Enjoyment and pleasure
Relationship struggles
Low or mismatched sexual desire
Communication and consent in sexual relationships
Fantasies, preferences, and performance pressure
Identity questions (sexuality, gender, relationship styles)
Body image and self-perception
Loneliness and the desire for connection
Sexual trauma, boundary-setting, and healing
Cultural, societal, or religious influences on sexuality
