As a therapist, I’m warm, present, and engaged. I listen with care and aim to create a space where you feel safe to speak openly and be yourself. I work in a way that is both supportive and active: I won’t just sit back and nod, but will gently help you understand what’s going on and how to move forward. I bring both psychological knowledge and real-life perspective, but I always keep the focus on what’s helpful for you. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine, trusting conversation between two people.

In our first sessions, we’ll take time to understand your situation and what you’d like help with. We explore what might be keeping you stuck and what gives your life meaning. I use evidence-based approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). We might talk, write things down, or try tools to help with difficult thoughts and feelings. I’ll help you notice what’s keeping you stuck and support you in taking small, meaningful steps forward. Therapy can include reflection, learning new skills, and gently challenging unhelpful habits, always at your own pace.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a PhD in psychology and over 10 years of experience in mental health research . I have worked in both academic and clinical settings, with a focus on emotional wellbeing, psychological flexibility, and the experience of meaning in life. In addition to my clinical training, I have completed further education in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and trauma-informed approaches. My work is guided by current research, but always grounded in real-life experience and human connection.

I work with young adults, adults, and couples who are struggling with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, stress, burnout, or challenges related to self-esteem, relationships, and identity. I also support clients dealing with the impact of a difficult childhood or traumatic past. Many of the people I work with are going through life transitions or feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected. I have experience working with LGBTQ+ clients and aim to offer a safe and affirming space for exploring identity, relationships, and belonging. I also often work with people navigating life in a new country or culture.

I offer therapy in English and Italian. Sessions can take place online or in person in Helsinki. I welcome both short-term and longer-term clients, depending on your needs and goals. I am used to working with international clients and people who may be starting therapy for the first time. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting — we can explore things together, step by step.
Alongside my clinical work, I’m also a researcher and one of the leading experts on Finnish happiness. My research is open access and has been featured in international media including the BBC and The Guardian. While therapy is always about you, this background supports the work we do together — grounding it in both science and real life.
