About me as a therapist

I am committed to offering a place where you can talk openly and frankly. You can rest assured that what you tell me in the therapy setting will not go out of the counselling room, except in special cases, such as for safety reasons. I take a holistic view on your presenting problems and construct an integrative and tailored-made approach for you based on scientific research and my clinical experiences.

My strength is that I am a really good listener, and I am good at helping you find your strengths. I can flexibly adjust my style to fit your situation and needs. I ask a lot of questions to know you better. I make sure I have a good understanding of your concerns and desire for resolution and discuss what therapy can do for you based on the shared understanding.

About my therapy sessions

I use a variety of therapeutic methods including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness and Morita Therapy.
No matter what therapeutic method we would use, the most crucial is a good working relationship between you and the therapist.  The first session will be a good opportunity for both to see if we could be a good match for the work and if you would like to work with me.  I appreciate honesty and I would welcome and encourage any concerns to be discussed openly in our sessions.  Discussing any concerns honestly and openly, will enable you to make the best use of, and gain most benefit from your counselling sessions.

My professional background and knowledge

I was first trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and then in Play Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Morita Therapy, allowing me to provide more integrative psychological approaches to my clients. Morita Therapy is a form of therapy developed in Japan which works for people with certain personality traits. It encourages people to accept their anxiety and fears as part of their natural feelings, and to utilize their characteristics and potentials in more constructive and desire-actualizing ways in their daily living.

As I have long worked in medical settings, I have extensive experience in treating hypochondria (a fear of developing illness), social anxiety disorders, specific phobias such as a fear of vomiting in social settings, general anxiety disorders including a fear of death, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and panic disorder with or without agoraphobia, in addition to general psychological problems.

Client group

I work with adults over the age of 16. I am also good at working with people who are hardworking but demanding of themselves.
